En Mi Casa by Sing-A-Lingo

Who doesn't want their child to learn a new language? I know that I want my children to develop that part of their brain that is tied to foreign language. And nothing seems to help stuff stick in my children's heads like music. So I was excited to receive a copy of En Mi Casa from Sing-a-Lingo.

En Mi Casa is all in Spanish. The cd case has all the words listed in both English and Spanish. The music is super catchy and my kids, who had never heard Spanish and didn't have the words in front of them, loved it!

A problem we did have was since I hadn't made copies of the words (and not all my kids could read) only 1 kid could really work on learning the words. I think that we are going to order the same cd in English so my kids could learn all the words in English first. That was my only problem with the cd. But if we had already been working on Spanish I would just make sure that their vocabulary words matched up with each song.

I think that Sing-a-Lingo has a great program going here! I enjoyed the music and it helped refresh my Spanish from high school. If you or someone you know is learning Spanish I highly recommend En Mi Casa!

LilyMe

We are in the age of charms and personalization for said charms. I just got the cutest bracelet with an adorable "love" charm from LilyMe. Now I see why these are so popular. I also love that this bracelet is adjustable! It is that perfect bracelet to wear all the time with anything so it is the perfect design for a sentimental piece.

But this simple bracelet isn't all that LilyMe does. They have all kinds of necklaces and bracelets with pre-designed charms as well as personalized charms. So you can get a great present with someone's children, siblings or a memorable verse.

You can us the coupon code "mother" to get 10% off any product at LilyMe!

Family Friendly Comic Book!

We love comic books here in the NerdFamily! NerdDad and I both read comic books but finding good ones for that are appropriate for the kids take a little looking. So when I received a review copy of Boy, I'd Hate to be Made Out of That Stuff! through FRN I was stoked!

Lunar Antics sets up this comic series where moon people invade earth to avoid the outrageous tax on the moon. It is advertised as science fiction for normal people;). This is a clean and fun comic. It has some sarcasm and a lot of wit! It is so cute! While the main characters are moon people (who are bright, a bit egotistical and very good at math) the strip is really about humanity.

I recommend this book! I think it is a fun gift for your favorite comic lover be they children or adults! Right now if you order a copy you can get it signed for free! I am a sucker for autographed books;).

Frugal Homeschooler: The Ear

The joy of homeschooling is that you are in the driver's seat. So you can choose to study what ever you want. You know each family has little games and such you play? Well, I always do the "I am going to eat you up" thing. So I told NerdPie that I wasn't going to eat her ears because she needed them to hold up her glasses but I was going to eat NerdBug's. She said she was sure he needed them but when I asked why (the hole would still be in there to his ear;) she wanted to know too. Thus inspired our morning of ear study!

First we started by reading an article together from Kids Health. It layed out all the parts of the ear and what their jobs are. It was presented well and the kids really liked it.

Then we did a little bit of seat work. For the older 2 kids I went to Enchanted Learning. They had a diagram with blank lines and a list of parts. Each part had a definition to go with the name and then the kids had to place them on the diagram. Enchanted Learning does have the diagrams available perfectly formatted for printing but you have to be a paid member for those. These were the free versions;). There was also an answer key so I didn't have to figure it out.

Then for the younger 2 I went to Edupics for a simple picture of an ear for them to color. While it may not have furthered their real knowledge of the ear, it did work on their hand eye coordination. Look how nicely the Nerdling stayed in the lines!

There you have a simple morning of free learning just because someone asked a question!

Party Time!!!!

Welcome all! I feel so honored that you have stopped by! So what is this crazy site, you wonder? Well, here we we focus on things. Basically that is it;). Since I do homeschool my 4 nerdlings so I often post on books and tools that we use. I also have a Frugal Homschooler feature that focuses on the free educational resources that are available online. I also look at things that are just helpful around the house, gifts and just great stuff!

I am also blessed to get to hold giveaways sporadically so make sure that you keep on the look out for those!

So what are your favorite things?

Make sure that you check out some of the other great parties!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

So prizes I would like to win (who wouldn't;): Of course the grand prize of a laptop! But other than that... I would love US101, US 112, US39, US 105, US87 but I would be happy with just about anything (but my youngest child is about 3;).
